There’s a certain professionalism that goes with it, there’s a certain selflessness that goes with it, there’s a certain set of expectations that goes with being a Pittsburgh Steeler. Defensive end Brett Keisel, who played from 2002-14 for Cowher and Mike Tomlin, was asked for his definition of a Steeler. My definition would just be tough, gritty, hard-working, bring your lunch pail, your hardhat, to work kind of mentality,” Keisel said by phone.
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced multiple moves on Saturday as they are placing defensive tackle Chris Wormley on the Reserve/Injured List and signing running back Trey Edmunds to the 53-man roster. The Steelers are also elevating two players from the practice squad for their Week 8 game in Baltimore against the Ravens in outside linebacker Jayrone Elliott and safety Antoine Brooks Jr. After the game, both players will revert back to the Steelers practice squad.
This is the second elevation for both Bonds and Welch. Bonds was promoted in Week 3, while Welch was called up in Week 6, though neither saw a defensive snap. Bonds, a second-year practice squad player, played seven special teams snaps in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs; Welch, an undrafted rookie from Iowa, played 24 special teams snaps in a win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
