The Miami Dolphins announced Saturday the elevation of practice squad defensive tackle Benito Jones and cornerback Tae Hayes. Both players will be eligible to play in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, giving Miami additional depth on the defense for the contest. The Dolphins only have 52 players on their active roster after placing defensive tackle Davon Godchaux on injured reserve.
The game between the Rams (5-2) and Dolphins (3-3) at Hard Rock Stadium will feature the first NFL start for Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the No. draft pick who led Alabama to back-to-back national championships. The Rams have a ferocious pass rush and a nimble secondary.
After playing their worst all-around game (the loss at San Francisco) followed by their best (the win over Chicago), the Rams look for the consistency the coaches have been talking about. The Rams would jump into first place in the NFC West if they win and Seattle loses to the 49ers. It would be a good way to cap the first half of their season and go into their bye week.
