Shutdown Corner - NFL

J. Lo: (Through her smile) "If you make me put on this hideously-colored jersey, I'm forcing you to watch 'Maid in Manhattan' tonight."

What do Marc Anthony, Jimmy Buffett and Gloria Estefan have in common? (Besides being on your mom's iPod, that is.) All are now part of owner Stephen Ross' new-look Miami Dolphins.

Anthony was introduced today as a minority owner of the team after buying a small stake in the organization. In the same press conference, the NFL announced its plans for celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (which, confusingly, runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15), which will culminate with Anthony singing the national anthem in Miami before a Monday night game with the New York Jets. Oh, and J. Lo was there too.

The Latin pop star, who is married to actor-singer Jennifer Lopez, joins Gloria Estefan as a minority owner of the Dolphins. Buffett has resisted the efforts of Ross to join the ownership team, but will play two concerts this year at the newly christened LandShark Stadium, named after his signature beer.

In a way, you could say that today's announcement makes Marc Anthony the boss of Bill Parcells. We can only hope that Anthony will be wearing this when the first introductions are made. That outfit should go over real nice with The Big Tuna.
