You're not going to believe this, but Rob Ryan thinks he'll be a better coach than his twin brother, Rex. Imagine that, bluster from the Ryan family!
"My chance will come. It only took my dad 25 years to get a chance and, hell, he's better than me and Rex put together.
"I know [Rex is] one of the most recognizable head coaches in football this year, and things like that. But, I mean, he's also gone to two AFC Championships games in a row. I mean, I don't think anybody else can say that. So, he's had an opportunity and he's done great with it. I'll be better than him, so I'll get my chance."
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Back it up a bit. Rob Ryan isn't the Cowboys head coach? I could have sworn he was after reading his quotes about Sunday's blowout loss to the Eagles:
"The whole thing is I got outcoached by [Andy] Reid and their staff. I mean, it's ridiculous. I never gave our guys a chance. The whole [expletive] thing was on me. If I gave them any extra motivation, hell, I certainly never backed it up. I gave our guys a lousy plan. We had no chance, and it's all on me." [...]
"Andy Reid was reading my mail. He kicked my ass. I've just got to go back and work harder. I've got to be smarter than this. That's all it comes down to."
The best-case scenario here is Tony Sparano getting fired in Miami, Bill Cowher spurning the job and then Rob Ryan getting hired, thus setting up two games a year against his brother. Those twice-annual matchups alone should easily provide us with 30 to 40 Shutdown Corner posts.
