We will focus on three players — one quarterback, one running back and one wide receiver — to be NFL DFS picks for Week 5’s NFL Yahoo Cup contest.

NFL Yahoo Cup Fantasy Football Picks | Round 5

NFL DFS Quarterback: Jalen Hurts — $18

Hurts is the only quarterback with A grades for both points and value in Awesemo’s Rankings on Yahoo. He is the driver of an Eagles offense that is implied for a decent 21 points this week. Hurts is yet to score fewer than 21 Yahoo points this year, thanks to the solid floor provided by his rushing ability. He is averaging almost 7points per game on the ground. His Year 2 leap as a passer (and the improvement of the Eagles receivers) gives him a solid ceiling as well. The Panthers defense looked to be one of the league’s best the first three weeks of the year, but that was against Zach Wilson (in his debut), Jameis Winston and David Mills. Dak Prescott and the Cowboys scored 36 points against Carolina. Hurts is a lot closer to Prescott then he is any of the quarterbacks in the first group.

NFL DFS Running Back: Leonard Fournette — $18

Running back is a bit trickier on Yahoo this week. The raw best play, Derrick Henry, is so expensive as to be out of reach for most lineup constructions. None of the backs with A value grades have A projections for points. Fournette comes close, though. He has separated himself as the lead back of Tampa’s committee, more than doubling Ronald Jones’ carry rate through four weeks. He provides a valuable pass game role that could be even more valuable this week — third-down back Giovani Bernard is listed as questionable. With the Buccaneers as 10-point favorites, that kind of role provides enormous value. If Bernard ends up playing this week, Damien Williams ($18) is the slightly better play than Fournette this week. Fournette is still a strong play either way though, and both could feature together in rosters.

NFL DFS Wide Receiver: D.J. Moore — $20

Moore is too cheap on Yahoo this week. He has seen 12 targets in each of the last two games. Sometimes that is just a coincidence or a player running hot, but in Moore’s case it coincides with Christian McCaffrey being injured. With McCaffrey on the shelf, the Panthers are throwing more to their wide receivers, especially Moore. He has an above-average matchup this week against the 22nd-ranked Eagles pass defense. Philadelphia also plays at the third-fastest situation-neutral pace in the league, which means a boost to total play volume for the Panthers. As a final bonus, he pairs nicely with Hurts. If Hurts has the Eagles offense flying high, Carolina will be throwing the ball more to keep pace. Moore is the only wide receiver in Awesemo’s rankings with an A grade in points and value.
