Which NFL Teams America Is Betting On This Season

The NFL is America?s most popular sport, dominating TV ratings and coverage. It rules at the betting window as well. Offshore sportsbooks took in nearly $100 billion in total money wagered in 2019, according to LegalSportsBetting.com.

The teams that are drawing the most bets are an interesting mix of popular teams such as the Dallas Cowboys (known as America?s Team), division leaders like the Seattle Seahawks and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

This list of the top seven teams is missing a few marquee teams as well, such as the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. That?s probably because of the schedules they have played so far, facing tough teams on the road.

One more interesting note is that fans are betting a lot on the seven teams on the list, but as you?ll see, they?re not necessarily succeeding. The teams listed are a combined 20-19 against the spread, according to ESPN. Of course, you should always be careful with gambling and never bet money you can’t afford to lose.

Do you know enough about gambling on sports to take a chance on these teams?

7. New Orleans Saints

  • % of bets placed on team: 58.3%

  • Record against the spread: 2-3

After a high-profile Week 1 victory over the division rival Buccaneers, the Saints have gone 1-3 against the spread since.

6. Dallas Cowboys

  • % of bets placed on team: 60%

  • Record against the spread: 0-6

This is an example where the popularity of the team shows. But with a season-ending injury to quarterback Dak Prescott, expect fewer bets on the Cowboys unless the spread is favorable.

5. Seattle Seahawks

  • % of bets placed on team: 61%

  • Record against the spread: 4-1

With the Seahawks ranked last in total defense, it might be wise to take the ?over? each time.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • % of bets placed on team: 61.4%

  • Record against the spread: 3-3

Tom Brady is the focus, but it?s the Bucs? defense that is ranked No. 1 in the NFL in total yards per game.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

  • % of bets placed on team: 61.5%

  • Record against the spread: 4-2

The defending champs went 13-5-1 against the spread last season.

2. Buffalo Bills

  • % of bets placed on team: 62.4%

  • Record against the spread: 3-3

This might be the biggest surprise — that the Bills are getting such heavy betting action. Then again, the other two teams from New York are seemingly in a race for the No. 1 overall draft pick next year.

1. Green Bay Packers

  • % of bets placed on team: 65.2%

  • Record against the spread: 4-1

The Packers are the runaway favorite of the betting public, and they?ve delivered against the spread so far this season.
