According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the Patriots could be looking for depth options on the defensive line with DT Beau Allen absent from practice.
The Patriots hosted free-agent DT Xavier Williams on a tryout, and he is a candidate to fill one of the team's open roster spots. Beau Allen's absence from practice has sparked depth concerns at DT. Williams signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa in 2015. He spent three seasons with the Cardinals before signing with the Kansas CIty Chiefs as a restricted free agent in 2018.
In 44 career games, Williams has totaled three sacks, three forced fumbles, and 83 tackles. His most productive season came in 2018 when he tallied 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and 47 tackles.
