Eagles interviewing 49ers coordinator Saleh on Wednesday originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

Robert Saleh was on his way to Miami Wednesday afternoon to meet with the Eagles after his second interview with the Jets did not result in a deal, NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark reported.

Saleh, the 49ers’ highly regarded defensive coordinator, is scheduled to interview with the Eagles at owner Jeff Lurie’s winter residence in Palm Beach, Fla.

Saleh will become the second candidate known to have interviewed with the Eagles. The Eagles also met with Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady, the former LSU passing game coordinator.

In addition to the Jets, Saleh has also been linked to openings with the Falcons, Lions, Jaguars and Chargers.

Saleh, 41, had stints with the Texans, Seahawks and Jaguars before joining Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers staff in 2017.

Over the last two years, the 49ers rank first in the NFL in yards allowed, 10th in points allowed, first in passing yards allowed and ninth in takeaways.

NFL Network’s Michael Silver reported earlier this week that Saleh plans to bring along 49ers passing game coordinator Mike LaFleur as offensive coordinator when he does get a head coaching job. LaFleur’s older brother is Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

Others who have been linked to the job that opened up Monday when the Eagles fired Doug Pederson are Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerod Mayo, Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley, Eagles running backs coach Duce Staley and Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.

Lurie has not hired a defensive head coach since Ray Rhodes in 1995, his first coaching hire. But Saleh, Bowles and Mayo are all defensive coaches, which is a sign Lurie will consider anything this time around.
