The 49ers reportedly have signed yet another veteran receiver.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that San Francisco has signed Jaron Brown. The signing comes two days after it was confirmed young receiver Jalen Hurd tore his ACL in training camp.
49ers are signing former Seahawks' WR Jaron Brown, per source. Brown joins JJ Nelson and Tavon Austin as the third WR to sign with SF since camp opened. SF lost WR Jalen Hurd earlier this week to a season-ending torn ACL.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 19, 2020
Over the past two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, Brown has caught 30 passes for 386 yards and seven touchdowns in 30 games. Brown, 30, has 116 receptions for 1,563 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career.
Along with Brown, the 49ers recently signed veterans Tavon Austin and J.J. Nelson to one-year contracts. General manager John Lynch and Co. are looking to fill some holes after Hurd's injury and with Deebo Samuel likely missing the start to the season due to a Jones fracture in his right foot.
With Samuel sidelined, the 49ers' top two receivers right now are Kendrick Bourne and rookie Brandon Aiyuk. Dante Pettis is looking to prove himself yet again, and seventh-round draft pick Jauan Jennings could have a real role due to injuries.
The injury bug clearly hasn't been kind to the 49ers so far.
