The NFL’s centennial season has come to a close with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs winning Super Bowl LIV. But even before Sunday’s championship game, the odds to win Super Bowl LV were already on the NFL futures board taking action.
The Chiefs are currently at the top of the NFL odds for 2020-21, tied with Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens at +650 to win Super Bowl LV, while the San Francisco 49ers sit at +750 to avenge their Big Game loss. Other notables include the New Orleans Saints at +1,200 and New England Patriots at +1,400, with both teams waiting on career decisions from veteran quarterbacks. The Green Bay Packers are also +1,400, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles at +1,600, the Pittsburgh Steelers +1,800 and Seattle Seahawks at +1,800.

WHAT IS A NFL FUTURES BET?
Sportsbooks not only offer NFL odds for every game of the regular season but also offer odds on the outright winner when it comes to events like the Super Bowl. These bets, more commonly known as futures bets, can be placed throughout the course of the year and will see teams’ odds change depending on sportsbook handle, trades and injuries, and success during the regular season and playoffs.
Whatever price you bet a team to win the Super Bowl at will be the price the wager is graded – no matter what happens after that point. If you bet the 49ers to win Super Bowl LV right now, you would get $7.50 in winnings for every $1 wagered. However, if San Francisco continues to excell in 2020 and begins the season strong, those odds could change. If they move to +500, then you would get $5 for every $1 wagered.
