Nov 21 (The Sports Xchange) - Unhappy with their scuffling defense, the Oakland Raiders parted ways with defensive coordinator Ken Norton, Jr. on Tuesday.

Raiders coach Jack Del Rio elevated defensive assistant John Pagano to the defensive coordinator position.

The Seattle Seahawks waived veteran defensive end Dwight Freeney.

The 37-year-old Freeney had three sacks in four games with the Seahawks. The seven-time Pro Bowler was signed last month after Seattle lost pass rusher Cliff Avril to a neck injury.

The Denver Broncos are expected to start Paxton Lynch at quarterback in Sunday's road game against the Oakland Raiders.

Denver has been plagued by quarterback play during its six-game losing streak. The Broncos fired offensive coordinator Mike McCoy on Monday and promoted Bill Musgrave to the same position.

The San Francisco 49ers waived defensive end Datone Jones.

Jones recorded six tackles in three games with the 49ers since signing a one-year deal on Oct. 24.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Robert Woods will be sidelined at least the next two games with a sprained left shoulder, coach Sean McVay announced.

Woods reeled in eight receptions for 81 yards versus the Vikings and leads the team in catches (47), targets (70) and receiving yards (703) this season. He also is tied with Sammy Watkins for the team lead among receivers in touchdowns (four).

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a radio interview there a "chance" Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith will play against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thanksgiving Day.

Smith, who has been sidelined with back and groin injuries, was listed as a limited participant in Monday's walkthrough.

Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert was suspended four games for violating the league's drug policy. He tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

Gilbert missed five games due to a hamstring injury this season. He missed two early in the season, tried to come back for the Chiefs game and reinjured it. He missed three more games before starting the past two games.
