Welcome to the NFL GPP Pivots article, where we’ll be looking to uncover some sneaky-good DFS plays away from the popular lifts. These recommendations are usually risk/reward commodities meant to be used in large-field tournaments. Typically, blending these low-owned hidden gems with well-aligned staples contributes to a viable GPP strategy.

Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the week, and sometimes injury situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NFL News & Headlines Feed up until game time will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We will be looking at Sunday’s main slate, so Saturday, Sunday, and Monday Night Football are not included in the following analysis.

QUARTERBACK

Taysom Hill - New Orleans (vs. Carolina) - DK: $6,000 FD: $7,700 Yahoo: $29

Hill is back in line to start for the Saints after a disaster performance with Ian Book under center last week. We all know Hill makes for a viable fantasy asset, and I believe he’ll be underrated with 14 games on this Sunday afternoon slate. Hill carries legitimate rushing upside that helped him 25+ FP in two of his last three games. There’s a reasonable chance he finishes in that range against Carolina.

Also Consider: Davis Mills, Tua Tagovailoa

RUNNING BACK

Saquon Barkley - NY Giants (at Chicago) - DK: $6,000 FD: $6,600 Yahoo: $16

Barkley has succumbed to the general ineffectiveness of New York’s offense. Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm are both playing QB for the Giants on Sunday, and that’s not reassuring whatsoever. Still, Barkley is an explosive playmaker who could bring forth fantasy value on just one play. His salary has bottomed out, and he’s facing a Bears team that ranks middle-of-the-pack against opposing running backs. Keep Barkley on your tournament list when making multiple lineups.

Jaret Patterson - Washington (vs. Philadelphia) - DK: $5,200 FD: $5,900 Yahoo: $20

Patterson is expected to take over for Antonio Gibson this week. Some people may shy away from this situation, as RBs JoNathan Williams and Wendell Smallwood could get in on the action as well. However, I believe those two will serve as more change-of-pace and third-down backs with Patterson taking the majority of snaps. We’ll see how it shakes out, but Patterson could reasonably see 15+ touches with upside for much more if he gains the hot hand.

Also Consider: D’Andre Swift, Rex Burkhead

WIDE RECEIVER

Brandin Cooks - Houston (at San Francisco) - DK: $6,000 FD: $6,500 Yahoo: $18

Cooks has posted back-to-back 100+ yard games, and he seems to be thriving with rookie QB Davis Mills gaining confidence. This is a tough road game against San Francisco, but keep in mind that the 49ers have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Game flow should have Houston passing the ball early and often, so expect Cooks to capitalize on plenty of targets.

DeVante Parker - Miami (at Tennessee) - DK: $5,200 FD: $5,900 Yahoo: $20

Jaylen Waddle is the primary target of the Dolphins’ passing game, but we can’t forget about DeVante Parker - who checks in with a much cheaper salary. Waddle looked great last Monday against the Saints, but Parker came through with a cool 4-68-1 line on eight targets as well. This matchup looks great against a Tennessee team that has allowed the second-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.

Also Consider: Tee Higgins, AJ Green, DeVonta Smith

TIGHT END

Tyler Higbee - LA Rams (at Baltimore) - DK: $4,000 FD: $5,400 Yahoo: $19

I feel like Higbee is underappreciated. When most people think of LA pass-catchers, Cooper Kupp, OBJ, and Van Jefferson come to mind before the big tight end. However, Higbee is averaging eight targets over his last five games while catching five passes in three of those. That represents sustainable volume while facing a Ravens that has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends this season.

Also Consider: Kyle Pitts, Jared Cook
