NFL.com thinks Bills’ James Cook will be All-Rookie in 2022
NFL.com draft araft analyst Chad Reuter forecasts quite a successful season for Buffalo’s second-round pick James Cook. Reuter projects that Cook will take the lead role in the Bills backfield, put up some impressive numbers, and earn Offensive All-Rookie honors this fall.
Reuter expects the ball to be in Cook’s hands often this season. He writes:
Buffalo selected a running back in the third round of the draft in 2019 and 2020 (Devin Singletary, ‘19; Zack Moss, ‘20), but I thought they would have interest in Cook late in the second round this year because of his all-purpose value. Expect Cook to approach 1,500 total yards from scrimmage in 2022, taking handoffs when he isn’t catching the ball out of the backfield or from the slot.
Cook was impressive in his final season for the Georgia Bulldogs, rushing for 728 yards on 113 carries and adding 284 receiving yards on 27 receptions. Cook scored 11 total touchdowns last year. Cook eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for all-purpose yards for the first time in his collegiate career in 2021.
Cook is the second Buffalo player projected to make the All-Rookie squad. Reuter also predicted cornerback Kaiir Elam to the Defensive All-Rookie team.
Cook was Buffalo’s highest-drafted running back since 2010. The Bills selected CJ Spiller with the ninth overall pick in that draft.
