The NFL has seven head coaching vacancies after one was filled Friday.

The Vikings named Eagles offensive coordinator Brad Childress to replace the fired Mike Tice.

On Tuesday, Norv Turner joined the unemployment line with Steve Mariucci (Detroit), Mike Sherman (Green Bay), Dom Capers (Houston), Jim Haslett (New Orleans), Mike Martz (St. Louis). Kansas City is also looking for a head coach after Dick Vermeil retired.

Teams are conducting interviews with candidates. Here's a look at all coaching searches.

DETROIT LIONS
Out: Steve Mariucci, Dick Jauron?

Maurice Carthon – The Browns' offensive coordinator was in Detroit on Monday to interview with president Matt Millen, according to the Detroit Free Press. Carthon was the Lions' offensive coordinator and running backs coach under Marty Mornhinweg. The Lions have denied interviewing Carthon, according to Wednesday’s Times-Picayune.

Jim Haslett – The former Saints head coach was expected to travel Detroit on Thursday to interview with the Lions, according to The Times-Picayune.

Al Saunders – The Lions have formally requested permission to speak with the Chiefs' offensive coordinator and could meet with him over the weekend, according to The Kansas City Star.

Mike Singletary – The 49ers' defensive assistant coach told the Associated Press that he had been contacted by the Lions about their head coach opening.

Dick Jauron – According to the Detroit News, Millen has not ruled out Jauron, who finished the season as interim coach, as a long-term candidate. The Detroit Free Press quoted Millen as calling Jauron “an excellent candidate.”

Gary Kubiak – Detroit and Houston will interview Kubiak this week, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The Broncos’ offensive coordinator will meet with Detroit Saturday.

Russ Grimm – Pittsburgh’s offensive line coach has drawn interest from the Lions, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Thursday. Grimm and Matt Millen were teammates on the 1991 Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins.

GREEN BAY PACKERS

Mike McCarthy – Green Bay received permission to interview San Francisco offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday. McCarthy served as quarterbacks coach under Ray Rhodes and reportedly has a strong relationship with Packers’ quarterback Brett Favre.

Wade Phillips – The Packers also sought and received permission from San Diego to interview defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, according to the same Journal Sentinel report.

Jim Bates – The Packers' defensive coordinator wants to stay in Green Bay and will be interviewed by general manager Ted Thompson, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Tim Lewis – The Giants' defensive coordinator is scheduled to interview with the Packers next Monday, according to Newsday.

Ron Rivera – The Bears' defensive coordinator will interview with Packers general manager Ted Thompson this week, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Maurice Carthon – Carthon has been contacted by the Packers and as of Wednesday was in the process of scheduling an interview, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Carthon just completed his first season as offensive coordinator of the Browns.

Ken Whisenhunt – A pair of Pittsburgh assistants are on Green Bay’s radar, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The team is expected to contact the Steelers and ask for permission to speak with Whisenhunt, their offensive coordinator, as well as offensive line coach Russ Grimm.

Sean Payton – The Cowboys have granted Green Bay permission to speak with their assistant head coach Sean Payton, the Dallas Morning News reported Thursday.

HOUSTON TEXANS

Kippy Brown – The Texans' receivers coach will interview for the head coaching position on Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Cam Cameron – The Chargers' offensive coordinator will be interviewed on Sunday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Kirk Ferentz – The Iowa head coach is expected to interview as early as next week, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Jerry Gray – The Bills' defensive coordinator will be interviewed on Saturday, according to the Houston Chronicle. Gray played at the University of Texas.

Gary Kubiak – The Broncos' offensive coordinator will be interviewed on Thursday, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Scott Linehan – The Dolphins' offensive coordinator interviewed with Houston Wednesday. According to the Miami Herald, the team came away impressed with Linehan, who is also expected to interview with St. Louis.

Al Saunders – The Chiefs' offensive coordinator is scheduled to interview with the Texans on Thursday, according to The Kansas City Star.

Ken Whisenhunt – The Texans are one of three teams believed to be interested in Whisenhunt, Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Steelers are unlikely to grant permission to interview Whisenhunt until after the playoffs.

Russ Grimm – Pittsburgh’s offensive line coach Russ Grimm is also expected to be a candidate in Houston, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Thursday.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Herm Edwards – The Chiefs and current Jets’ head coach Herm Edwards are close to a deal, the New York Times reported Thursday. Kansas City would compensate the Jets with draft picks. Edwards previously worked as a scout in the personnel department and as a defensive backs coach in Kansas City.

Jim Fassel – The Ravens granted the Chiefs permission to speak with Baltimore's offensive coordinator, The Kansas City Star reported.

Gary Kubiak – The Chiefs received permission to interview Denver’s offensive coordinator, but a face-to-face meeting will have to wait until the Broncos are eliminated from the playoffs, the Rocky Mountain News reports.

Al Saunders – Team president Carl Peterson interviewed the Chiefs' offensive coordinator for several hours at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, The Kansas City Star reported.

Bob Stoops – Oklahoma's head coach indicated during a radio interview Wednesday that he’s not interested in jumping to the NFL, according to The Oklahoman.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Donnie Henderson – The Saints plan to interview the Jets' defensive coordinator next week, according to The Times-Picayune.

Tim Lewis – The Saints have asked for permission to speak with the Giants' defensive coordinator, The Times-Picayune reported.

Sean Payton – Payton met with Saints officials in San Antonio Wednesday, according to the Times-Picayune. The Picayune characterized the chat as an “introductory meeting.”

Maurice Carthon – New Orleans will interview Cleveland’s offensive coordinator next week, according to the Times-Picayune.

OAKLAND RAIDERS

Maurice Carthon – The Browns' offensive coordinator interviewed with the Raiders in 2004 and is expected to meet with the team again about its head coaching opening, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Pat Hill – The Fresno State head coach is expected to be brought in for interviews, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Ron Rivera – The Raiders are expected to seek permission to interview the Bears' defensive coordinator, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Rivera was an All-American at nearby Cal.

Mike Singletary – The Raiders are expected to seek permission to interview the 49ers' defensive assistant coach, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Jim Fassel – Oakland had not scheduled interviews with any candidates as of Wednesday evening, but Fassel’s name has surfaced, according to the Baltimore Sun. Fassel just completed his first season as offensive coordinator with the Ravens.

Art Shell – No official word on interest from the Raiders, but several Bay Area media sources are lobbying for the return of Shell, who coached the Raiders from 1989-1994.

ST. LOUIS RAMS

Ron Rivera – The Bears' defensive coordinator will be interviewed this week, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Tim Lewis – The Giants' defensive coordinator is on the Rams' short list for head coaching candidates, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Gary Kubiak – The Rams have received permission to interview Denver’s offensive coordinator.

Ken Whisenhunt – St. Louis is interested in Pittsburgh’s offensive coordinator, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazzete. No formal interview has been scheduled.

Scott Linehan – Miami’s offensive coordinator is expected to interview with St. Louis as early as this weekend, the Miami Herald reports.

Mike Zimmer – Team president John Shaw interviewed Zimmer Thursday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Currently Dallas’ offensive coordinator, Zimmer played college football at Illinois State.
