Iowa State's overtime win over Villanova looked like it might go down as a signature win on the Cyclones' 2022-23 resume.
Then, the Cyclones topped it the very next day with a comeback win over No. 1 North Carolina, which quickly became the biggest story in college hoops.
After an off-day Saturday, Iowa State is heading to Sunday's championship game of the Phil Knight Invitational, where it will take on Connecticut. UConn knocked off Alabama, 82-67, in the other semifinal Friday night to clinch the other spot in the championship game.

Iowa State 70, No. 1 North Carolina 65
A career game from Caleb Grill (31 points) propelled Iowa State to its first win over the No. 1 ranked team since a 2016 victory over Oklahoma.
The Cyclones trailed for much of the game but battled back in the final minutes to tie and eventually take the lead. Jaren Holmes added 22 points. Tamin Lipsey had a game-high 6 assists.
Iowa State 81, Villanova 79 (OT)
Iowa State led by as much as 16 vs. Villanova, but the Wildcats didn't go away. Villanova tied the game with a pair of free throws in the final seconds of regulation to send it to overtime.
The Cyclones survived, thanks in large part to a pair of big threes in overtime by Caleb Grill and Gabe Kalscheur. Tamin Lipsey went 4-for-4 at the free throw line in the final minute to seal the game.
Kalscheur's 23 points off the bench led Iowa State. Osun Osunniyi added 17 points, while Jaren Holmes chipped in 12 points, 9 assists and 5 boards.
