Whether it was a logjam at the tight end position or the continuation of an organizational rebuild, the Eagles traded three-time Pro Bowl tight end, Zach Ertz, to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, signaling a changing of the guard.

It really is more about nature taking its course and although Ertz should have retired with the organization, that option went out the window the minute Dallas Goedert was drafted in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Dallas Goedert was surprised by the Eagles cutting off contract talks earlier this summer and it’ll be interesting to see if those discussions resume or if Howie Roseman watches to see how the versatile tight end responds to an uptick in targets.
If Jackson can continue to his accelerated development, Howie Roseman could have himself a diamond.

Outside of Goedert, Landon Dickerson, Jordan Mailata, Josh Sweat, Darius Slay, Steven Nelson, and Jack Driscoll, anyone not in the Howie Roseman long-term vision should be made available or allowed to seek other options going forward.

After getting a close-up look at Fred Warner, Deion Jones, Micah Parsons, Devin White, and other dynamic linebackers on opposing teams, it’s quite evident that Howie Roseman has to finally add a game-changing linebacker to the roster.
