The Arizona Cardinals concluded their offseason program last week. After a month of voluntary workouts, three weeks of voluntary OTAs and a week of mandatory minicamp, players and coaches enter the summer break, with most done until training camp.

What do the next four or five weeks look like?

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury detailed what is coming up for players and himself.

Rookies still have work to do

While veterans are off until camp, rookies are not yet done.

“Rookies will be here for two more weeks,” Kingsbury said last week. “So they’ll be here training with (strength and conditioning coach) Buddy (Morris) and doing some walkthroughs and football stuff. Then they’ll get out of here.”

They will be done before the holiday weekend.

Kingsbury to disappear

Kingsbury said he is taking time off, calling it “(his) time.”

“I’m gone,” he said. “I will be out of the country, unreachable for any of y’all. I get away for about three weeks and then we’ll get in and start finalizing scripts for training camp.”

Based on that timeline, they will be back in the building the week of July 11, giving the coaches about two weeks to prepare for camp.

Message to the team

Kingsbury had a team meeting to wrap up minicamp last week and had some basic things to tell them before they broke for the summer.

“It’s always just be safe, stay in shape and be ready to roll, and we’re here if you need us,” he said.
