The New York Yankees made several roster moves on Saturday.
They placed catcher Francisco Cervelli and right-handed pitcher Ivan Nova on the 15-day disabled list, and transferred shortstop Derek Jeter to the 60-day DL.
Cervelli fractured his right hand after catching a foul tip during Friday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Nova left his start Friday with inflammation in his right triceps.
In their place, the Yankees recalled catcher Austin Romine from Class AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre and purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Vidal Nuno from Scranton Wilkes-Barre.
David Phelps is expected to take Nova's spot in the rotation and Nuno will work out of the bullpen. Nuno is a former independent leaguer who has performed well since joining the Yankees organization two years ago. He has a 2.10 ERA with 218 strikeouts and 40 walks in his last 226 2/3 innings combined in Class A and AAA.
