The New York Yankees have claimed first baseman Travis Ishikawa off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, the Baltimore Sun reported.
The Yankees also transferred infielder Kevin Youkilis to the 60-day disabled list. Youkilis is out with a back injury.
Ishikawa is scheduled to join the Yankees on Monday, and he is expected to see some playing time. Lyle Overbay has been the Yankees primary first baseman lately.
Ishikawa was batting .316 with seven home runs in 49 games at Triple-A Norfolk before the Orioles called him up on June 18. The Orioles designated him for assignment on June 29.
