The New York Yankees have obtained utilityman Brent Lillibridge from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for either cash considerations or a player to be named later, according to the Cubs' Twitter account.
In 24 plate appearances for the Cubs this season, Lillibridge, 29, has just one hit for an .042 batting average.
He's hitting .281 this year for the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa, where he has spent most of his time.
The Yankees were looking for infielders with Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Kevin Youkilis all expected to be out until after the All-Star break.
