In the midst of a dismal season, the University of California football team earned a rare win Wednesday.
Erik Brown, a highly touted wide receiver for Fontana (Calif.) Summit High School, changed his commitment from the University of Washington to Cal, Scout.com reported.
Brown's seven-on-seven coach, Armond Hawkins, told the website, "Erik has decided with the help of his mom that it was in his best interest to decommit from Washington and commit to the Cal Bears."
Brown believes Cal wide receivers coach Rob Likens can help him get to the NFL, Hawkins added.
Listed as a four-star recruit by Scout.com, Brown is due to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 in Carson, Calif. Brown is 6-foot-2, 170 pounds.
Cal heads into its season finale Saturday at Stanford with a 1-10 record. The Bears are 31 1/2-point underdogs in The Big Game, a record for the Bay Area rivalry.
