Washington Wizards guard John Wall showed improvement in his left knee and can increase his basketball activity after an examination by orthopedic specialist David Altchek indicated progress, the Washington Post reported Friday.
"John's examination today showed improvement in his stress injury that will allow him to begin ramping up his activity level," Altchek said in a statement released by the team. "There is still some irritation in the knee which we have treated over his last several visits with a series of three lubricating Synvisc injections, the last of which was given today. He will continue to be evaluated on an ongoing basis."
Wall has been sidelined since late September, when the early stages of a non-traumatic stress injury in the left patella were discovered.
The team said at the time Wall would miss about eight weeks, but he has been out for 11 weeks, and there is no longer is a timetable for his return.
