Minnesota forward Dany Heatley is expected to miss two weeks after after he was injured by a slash from San Jose's Marc-Edouard Vlasic on Wednesday night.
Vlasic.a former teammate of Heatley, received an $8.378.38 fine from the NHL for the hit.
The 32-year-old Heatley has 11 goals and 21 points while playing in 36 of Minnesota's 37 games this season.
It's the second injury for the Wild this week. Center Matt Cullen suffered a lower-body injury on Monday. He has missed the past two games and the Wild still isn't sure when he'll return.
"We've got to make up for (Heatley), somebody's going to have to step up, somebody's going to have to elevate their game," Wild coach Mike Yeo told the Minnesota Star-Tribune. "That's two key guys that we lost the last couple games."
