The barrage of wildfires in the Los Angeles area has caused UCLA to cancel its Wednesday night game.
The 23rd-ranked Bruins were scheduled to host Montana at 8 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion, but the school announced the game won’t be played, citing safety concerns.
“The health and safety of student-athletes, staff and fans is our top priority,” the school said in a release. “Due to concerns stemming from area wildfires, tonight’s men’s basketball game versus Montana has been canceled. All other team workouts and practices scheduled for today also have been canceled.”
The UCLA football team, with a trip to the Cactus Bowl against Kansas State scheduled for later this month, also canceled its Wednesday morning practice. The NFL’s Los Angeles Rams also canceled practice. When you see the images coming out of the metro L.A. area, it’s not hard to understand why.
