Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko had an MRI on his ailing back Thursday.
The club announced Friday that Konerko also received six injections and will continue treatment.
If Konerko is not healthy enough to play by Sunday, he may go on the disabled list.
Konerko, 37, has had back problems off and on in the past few years and it flared up during the week. He plans to take batting practice Saturday and Sunday to determine when he will be able to play.
Konerko is batting .253 with seven home runs in 66 games.
Adam Dunn will fill in at first base. He is hitting .194 but has 20 home runs.
