Veteran forward Blake Wheeler and the Winnipeg Jets avoided arbitration as the two sides agreed to a six-year deal worth $33.6 million.
The 26-year-old forward compiled 19 goals and 22 assists while playing in all 48 games last season.
"Thrilled to be a Jet for 6 more years," Wheeler tweeted.
Wheeler was the fifth overall pick by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Draft. He has 93 goals and 139 assists in 372 career games during his career, which includes stops in Boston and Atlanta/Winnipeg.
The sides were scheduled for an arbitration hearing Monday, according to NHL.com.
"Blake is very comfortable with the direction (general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff), ownership and his staff is taking the organization," agent Matt Keator told the Winnipeg Sun.
