Western Michigan defeats Central Michigan 76-59

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) -- Shayne Whittington scored 20 points and David Brown added 13 off the bench to lead Western Michigan to a 76-59 victory against Central Michigan on Saturday night.

Nate Hutcheson had 12 points and Brandon Pokley 10 points and nine rebounds for the Broncos (12-7, 4-2 Mid-American).

Kyle Randall and Blake Hibbitts scored 14 points each for the Chippewas (9-10, 2-4).

Western Michigan led 33-29 early in the second half before Hutcheson, Pokley and Brown each hit a 3-pointer during a run that pushed the cushion to double digits. Central Michigan got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

The Chippewas shot just 29.8 percent (14 of 47) from the floor and were outrebounded 42-27.
