A woman accusing Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington of assaulting her claimed in court Friday that she suffered a broken collarbone from a fall after he pushed her with both hands, according to the Arizona Republic.
Washington, 26, was arrested Friday morning on two aggravated assault charges stemming from an incident on Wednesday in which the two had been fighting in the woman's Phoenix apartment.
The alleged victim, Washington's ex-girlfriend, is the mother of his child.
"This is a legal matter and I am limited in what I can say other than that my lawyer and I will continue to cooperate with investigators and welcome the opportunity for all the facts to be presented," Washington said in a statement. "I regret that the situation has brought this kind of attention to my family and my team. I look forward to resolving it as soon as possible."
Washington was previously suspended the first four games of the coming season for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.
