Warriors 115, Hornets 110
NEW ORLEANS -- Klay Thompson scored 29 points and Jarrett Jack added 25 as the Golden State Warriors held on for a 115-110 victory over the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday night at New Orleans Arena.
Jack scored seven of the Warriors' final nine points against his former team to help the Warriors snap a three-game losing streak.
Stephen Curry, returning after a two-game absence because of an ankle injury, added 20 points and seven assists. Festus Ezeli had 13 points and Carl Landry and Richard Jefferson each scored 11 for Golden State, which improved to 7-3 in the back half of consecutive games.
Eric Gordon scored 23 points and Anthony Davis recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Hornets.
Ryan Anderson scored 19 points, Al-Forouq Aminu had 14 and Roger Mason added 12 for New Orleans, which saw an end to its two-game winning streak.
The Hornets shot a season-high 57 percent from the field, making 45 of 79 attempts. The 45 field goals also were a season high, and New Orleans fell one point shy of tying a season high in points.
Jack's two free throws with 52 seconds remaining tied the score at 110 and his jumper from inside the lane with 31 seconds left gave the Warriors a 112-110 lead.
After the Hornets' Jason Smith committed an offensive foul, Jack made 1 of 2 free throws with 22 seconds remaining to give Golden State a 113-110 lead. He added a pair of free throws with 15.7 seconds remaining.
Thompson was 10 of 13 in the first half, including 4 of 4 in staking the Warriors to a 67-57 halftime lead.
But the Hornets outscored Golden State 32-18 in the third quarter to take an 89-85 lead.
Thompson scored nine points in the first quarter, making all four of his shots, as Golden State closed on a 12-5 run to take a 33-27 lead.
NOTES: The New Orleans Hornets opened a two-game homestand Saturday night but because of the Super Bowl being played Feb. 3 in the adjacent Mercedes-Benz Superdome will spend much of early February on the road. ... After hosting Sacramento in a Monday matinee, the Hornets will play nine of their next 11 games on the road beginning at San Antonio on Wednesday. ... "We just worry about the first quarter," Hornets coach Monty Williams said Saturday. "We're not focused on the next game or any other game." ... Golden State coach Mark Jackson said Curry would start against the Hornets after being sidelined the past two games with a right ankle sprain. The Warriors had lost three consecutive games and were 10-32 the past two seasons without Curry. ... Jackson said forward David Lee would not start after spraining his left ankle in a 95-88 loss at San Antonio on Friday night. ... Golden State (23-15) has matched last season's win total. ... The Hornets have won six of their past eight games and are 6-3 in games that Ben Gordon has played, including 5-2 in games he has started. A knee injury sidelined Gordon until Dec. 29.
