Wade Phillips takes over as Texans' interim coach

The Houston Texans named defensive coordinator Wade Phillips their interim head coach with Gary Kubiak recovering frrom a transient ischemic attack suffering during halftime Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Texans have lost six games in a row.

"We've lost some games, but there are tougher things than losing some ballgames that people have overcome," Phillips told reporters. "So we can overcome losing ballgames if people can overcome some of the things that happened."

Phillips' father, Wade Phillips, died recently.

Phillips, 66, has previously been a head coach for the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos.

"I get a better parking spot, but that's about it," Phillips said. "I'm just keeping the seat warm."
