LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) -- QJ Peterson scored 30 points and VMI rolled to a 95-72 victory over Longwood in a Big South opener Wednesday night.
VMI's D.J. Covington added 15 points along with 16 rebounds and four blocks. The Keydets outrebounded Longwood 49-34 and had 19 offensive rebounds that led to 20 second-chance points. Rodney Glasgow also scored 15 points for VMI (8-6) with Brian Brown adding 11. VMI made 28 of 41 free-throw attempts.
Lucas Woodhouse led the Lancers (5-11) with 17 points and eight assists, Karl Ziegler added 15 points and Tristan Carey 10.
The Keydets led the entire way and were up 45-38 at halftime. The Keydets led 76-63 with 8:01 left when they outscored the Lancers 8-2, capped by three-point play by Glasgow for a 19-point advantage at 4:32. The lead never dipped under 16 points thereafter.
VMI improved to 8-0 at home and has won four straight over Longwood.
