Virginia Commonwealth celebrated its first conference game in the Atlantic 10 with a 74-62 victory over Dayton on Wednesday.
Treveon Graham scored 24, Juvonte Reddic had 14, and reigning conference Player of the Week Troy Daniels added 12 for the Rams, who extended their winning streak to 10 games. VCU improved to 13-3 on the season.
Kevin Dillard led the Flyers (10-5, 0-1 Atlantic 10) with 17 points.
The Rams spent 17 years in the Colonial Athletic Association before departing for the A-10 during the offseason, and they proved too much for the Flyers to handle. Dayton turned the ball over 26 times, with VCU recording 15 steals, nine of them by Briante Weber. The guard added four points and five assists.
VCU entered the game ranked 24th in the nation in the coaches' poll. It marked the first time the Rams were ranked by the coaches in the regular season.
Rams coach Shaka Smart was the director of basketball operations at Dayton from 2001-03.
VCU continues conference play Saturday with a game at St. Bonaventure. Dayton returns home to play No. 14 Butler on Saturday.
