Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was announced Thursday as the NFC's offensive player of the month for December.
Peterson rushed for 861 rushing yards last month, more than any player in any month in NFL history. Beyond that, of the 32 NFL teams, 14 didn't have a player rush for 861 yards for the entire season. Peterson's December totals would've made him the leading rusher on nearly half the teams in the league, including the two teams that have home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs.
In five December games, Peterson ran for 210, 154, 212, 86 and 199 yards, and led a four-game winning streak into the playoffs.
