Vernon Wells: Trade To Yankees Imminent Staff

Update: The Yankees are on the verge of acquiring Wells, FOX Sports reports.

Recommendation: The two sides are still negotiating, but Wells has reportedly agreed to waive his no-trade clause to join the Yankees. The 34-year-old is owed $42 million over the next two seasons, meaning the Angels will almost certainly have to eat a bulk of the money to consummate the trade. Upon joining the Yankees, Wells could assume a starting role in left field with injuries to Mark Teixeira, Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson forcing the team to shuffle their roster around.
