USC Upstate shoots past Western Carolina 72-58

KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Ricardo Glenn scored a season-high 17 points and nabbed eight rebounds as USC Upstate earned a 72-58 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic tournament victory over Western Carolina in Kent, Ohio on Saturday.

Fred Miller had 16 points and Jodd Maxey contributed 11 for the Spartans, who shot 47 percent from the field, despite making only 3-of-16 shots from beyond the arc.

The Spartans (3-3) led 43-26 at the half and was up by double digits through most of the second half. The Catamounts (4-4) closed the gap to eight with 2 minutes remaining before running out of steam and allowing Upstate to score the next 8 points in securing the win.

Trey Sumler and Brandon Boggs had 16 points apiece, with Sumler also grabbing 9 rebounds. The Catamounts shot only 19 percent from the 3-point line, hitting 5 of 26.
