A billboard located near UCLA that featured USC quarterback Matt Barkley has had the image removed, but neither school is admitting responsibility for its removal, ESPNLosAngeles.com reported.
The billboard included a large picture of Barkley with USC?s 2012 slogan ?We play to finish? near his head. It?s just a few blocks from the UCLA campus.
A number of UCLA fans complained about the billboard on the Internet, and sometime Monday night the billboard was altered so that it is now just a plain black surface.
"USC was not involved in the decision to take any billboard down," USC spokesperson Tim Tessalone told ESPNLosAngeles.com. "We do not agree with the decision, nor were we involved in the decision to take it down."
UCLA spokesperson Nick Ammazzalorso told ESPNLosAngeles.com that UCLA had no involvement in the removal of image on the billboard either.
The billboard is owned by Regency Outdoor Advertising but an unidentified person from Regency refused to tell ESPNLosAngeles.com whether the billboard had been taken down earlier than planned.
All the other similar billboards depicting Barkley remained untouched.
