UFC Singapore Weigh-in Results: Saffiedine vs. Lim Gets Green Light; Kawajiri Set for Debut

UFC Singapore Fighter Bonuses: Tarec Saffiedine, Hyun Gyu Lim Put on Memorable Main Event

The UFC starts the new year off with a new twist to its business model with UFC Fight Night 34 (aka UFC Singapore), which presents a more localized approach to its “UFC Fight Night” branded events.

UFC Singapore takes place on Saturday, Jan. 4, in Singapore, signaling the launch of UFC Fight Pass, the promotion's digital subscription service. UFC Singapore takes place in prime time locally, airing in the early morning hours across North America.

Leading up to the event, which features former Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine squaring up with South Korean fighter Hyun Gyu Lim, all 20 fighters on the 10-bout fight card first stepped on the scale to make their bouts official.

Saffiedine tipped the scale at 170 pounds, Lim at 171, greenlighting their headlining bout.

Along with Saffiedine vs. Lim in the main event, UFC Singapore also features the promotional debut of Japanese veteran Tatsuya Kawajiri. Kawajiri is best known for his epic battles during his stints in Shooto, Pride, and Dream in Japan.

Neither Kawajiri nor his opponent, Sean Soriano, had any difficulty hitting the featherweight mark. Each stepped on the scale at 145 pounds.
