UFC 185-pound champion Chris Weidman underwent successful knee surgery, the fighter revealed on Tuesday evening.
Weidman took to social media to update everyone on his injury and appeared upbeat in a photo he uploaded following the procedure.
“Surgery was a success!” Weidman wrote on Instagram, while also thanking all for the well wishes.
Weidman was scheduled to face former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida at UFC 173 on May 24. According to UFC officials, the fighter suffered a knee injury that the organization described as minor, and the bout was postponed for UFC 175 on July 5.
Recovery for Weidman's surgery will take approximately four weeks, according to various reports.
The Weidman-Machida title fight will headline the UFC 175 pay-per-view, which takes place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
