UFC on FX 5: Browne vs. Bigfoot Attendance and Live Gate

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to Minneapolis, Minn., on Friday night with UFC on FX 5: Browne vs. Bigfoot at the Target Center.

UFC president Dana White, at the post-fight press conference, couldn’t make out the handwritten attendance for the event, saying that it was 7,000-something. Whatever that number was, White said that it was good for a live gate of $358,000.

After the trials and tribulations leading up to the event, White had to be pleased that it merely happened at all.

Dennis Hallman, who cited some personal issues, had trouble making weight on Thursday and eventually asked just to be let out of his fight altogether. White did so, but also released him from his UFC contract so that he could handle his personal issues.

Friday morning, Jeremy Stephens, who was to face Yves Edwards in the top preliminary bout of the night, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. White tried all day to free his fighter, but was unsuccessful, eventually scratching the bout from the card.

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva notched his first UFC victory in the night’s main event, scoring a TKO over rising heavyweight Travis Browne.
