As part of the on-sale announcement, the promotion revealed several of the fights on the card, as well as the signing of popular Mexican standout Augusto “Dodger” Montano.
Aside from the previously announced heavyweight main event between returning UFC champion Cain Velasquez and challenger Fabricio Werdum, the card also features a pivotal welterweight bout between Top 10-ranked Jake Ellenberger and undefeated The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum.
Other UFC 180 bouts announced on Tuesday include Ricardo Lamas vs. Dennis Bermudez in a featherweight fight that could have title implications, Mexican-born fighter Erik Perez vs. Marcus Brimage, as well as Montano’s UFC debut.
Having fought his way up through the ranks in Mexico, Montano doesn’t yet have an announced opponent for UFC 180. He won’t be an easy task for anyone, however, as the welterweight fighter has a 13-1 record, having lost only to fellow UFC fighter Sam Alvey via a decision.
He’ll make his Octagon debut riding a four-fight winning streak.
