UFC 169 Fighter Bonuses: Abel Trujillo Takes Home $125,000 After Earning Two Awards

The Ultimate Fighting Championship released the performance-based fighter bonuses following UFC 169: Barao vs. Faber II on Saturday. Two champions defended their belts at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J, but lightweight Abel Trujillo was the big winner.

Fight of the Night honors went to Trujillo and Jamie Varner with each earning $75,000. The fight kicked off the pay-per-view portion of the fight card. Varner had Trajillo hurt and on wobbly legs. He tired to finish and pressed forward. He got caught with his hands down and Trajillo unloaded a right hand that left Varner face-first on the canvas.

Trujillo also earned the Knockout of the Night bonus, worth an added $50,000.

There was no Submission of the Night bonus due to there not being a submission finish on the card. UFC 169 set the record for most decisions in UFC event history, a record the UFC president Dana White was none too pleased with.

Between Trujillo and Varner, the UFC handed out $250,000 in bonuses for UFC 169 performances.
