UFC 168 Official Weigh-in Results: Silva Had His Time, Weidman Says Now It's His Turn

On Friday, the 22 fighters participating on the UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva 2 fight card officially weighed in at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC 168 features two of the most anticipated rematches in mixed martial arts history.

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will try to put a stamp on the belt he took from Anderson Silva at UFC 162 in July by defeating “the Spider” again. Silva is looking to further his legacy by taking his belt back from Weidman, and reinstating his reign as the top middleweight fighter on the planet.

Like Tate did before him, Silva made his way to the weigh-in stage from the opposite side as is the norm, weighing in at 185 pounds. Weidman, like Rousey, entered from the traditional side, and stepped on the scale at 184 pounds.

Silva had little to say after he faced off with Weidman, saying, “Great show for all the people and the fans of the UFC. That's it. The belt back [nodding his head].”

Weidman had little more to say, but put the fight in perspective, knowing that he has to win to quiet the naysayers that believe the first fight was an aberration.

“It means everything. It's the biggest fight of my life,” said Weidman. “Anderson Silva had his, this is my time.”

In the night's co-main event, current UFC women's bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, puts her belt on the line for just the second time. She was the Strikeforce women's champion when the promotion was folded into the UFC and thus, the belt was transferred over. She defeated Liz Carmouche in the first-ever UFC women's bout, and now rematches her nemesis, Miesha Tate, who is the woman Rousey defeated to win the Strikeforce belt.

Tate, before weighing in, came out from the opposite side of the stage of all the other fighters (save for Silva). Tate weighed in at 135 pounds. Rousey came out from the traditional side of the stage and also weighed 135 pounds.

Rousey and Tate's staredown was intense, UFC president Dana White ready to step in, but neither said a word or made a move towards the other.

Diego Brandao, who kicks off the UFC 168 main card on pay-per-view opposite Dustin Poirier, came in well off the mark, weighing in at 153 pounds for their 145-pound bout. Brandao did not attempt to cut any further weight and had to forfeit 25-percent of his fight purse.

Poirier pointed and got in Brandao's face when they squared off after weighing in, obviously displeased with him missing weight.
