UFC 160 Results: Cain Velasquez Makes Short Work of Bigfoot Silva to Defend Heavyweight Title

Cain Velasquez made short work of Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva to defend his UFC Heavyweight title with a first round TKO victory at UFC 160 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Velasquez shot for takedowns early in the opening round, but Silva wouldn't go down, fending off his attempts.

Velasquez shifted gears and set up the stoppage by catching Silva with a left hand as he came in before dropping him with a big overhand right. The champion was quick to respond, swarming on the downed Brazilian, landing ground and pound before the fight was waved off at 1:21 of round one.

“I don't think about it as defending the title, I just want to win every fight against the best guys,” Velasquez said. “(JDS) looked good tonight, he's tough.

“Right now I want to go home, see my little girl and ride my new Harley (Davidson),” he continued.

Velasquez will next meet former champion Junior dos Santos in what will be the third time the two have fought. dos Santos stopped Mark Hunt in round three of their UFC 160 co-main event fight.

“I want it so bad,” dos Santos said. “I believe I can be the champion again and I'll do my best to get there.”
