The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Tuesday confirmed the previously reported UFC 157 event slated for Feb. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
The event had been rumored for some time with several MMAWeekly.com sources backing it’s validity, but the UFC finally made it official follow a report on its news program UFC Tonight on Fuel TV.
The promotion also firmed up its first bout for UFC 157.
No surprises here as “The California Kid” Urijah Faber is set to take on Ivan Menjivar in a rematch.
The two first met nearly seven years ago. Faber won the first meeting when Menjivar was disqualified for illegally kicking a downed opponent. He’ll have the opportunity to avenge the loss when they meet in Anaheim.
UFC 157 marks the first time in more than a year that the promotion has been to the Honda Center. The last time it was at the venue was for the first UFC on Fox event, featuring Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos for the heavyweight championship.
