UCLA recruit Freeman granted release

Allerik Freeman, one of the early signees under former UCLA coach Ben Howland, is leaving the Bruins.

The school announced Thursday that Freeman asked for and was given his release from a national letter of intent he signed last November.

Freeman recently completed his senior season at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nv., where he led the school on a 54-game winning streak.

He was one of three early signees under Howland, along with forward Noah Allen and Zach LaVine.

Howland was dismissed in March after 10 seasons.
