Tyler Lamb, who left UCLA's basketball team in November, announced on his Twitter account on Friday that he will transfer to Long Beach State.
Lamb said he picked the 49ers over San Diego State.
As a UCLA sophomore last season, Lamb averaged 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
He had arthroscopic knee surgery in October, which sidelined him for six weeks. He played in only one game for the Bruins this season, scoring four points in 14 minutes of action in the opener against Indiana State.
Lamb will try to get the entire season of eligibility back, but if he can't, he will have one and a half years of eligibility remaining.
He can play for the 49ers as early as the second semester of the 2013-2014 season, which would be late December.
