University of Georgia police were called to the dorm room of Georgia starting inside linebackers Natrez Patrick and Roquan Smith on Oct. 15 after a resident assistant smelled marijuana coming from the abode.

The incident occurred just a few hours after the Bulldogs’ loss to Vanderbilt. Neither player was arrested nor charged because no marijuana was found, but officers did note in the police report that the smell of marijuana was “abundant.” Police also said Patrick admitted to keeping marijuana in a hidden compartment inside a fake can of Arizona Strawberry Tea, but there was nothing in the can when it was confiscated. Police also noticed a “green smoke buddy,” which is used to mask the smell of marijuana, Black N’ Mild cigars with the tobacco taken out, several lighters and rolled up towels placed against the door cracks.

Patrick and Smith said they smoked the cigars and not marijuana that night.

This is Patrick’s second issue with marijuana. He was arrested a year ago along with former Georgia defensive lineman Chauncey Rivers. Patrick also was there when Rivers was arrested a second time for possession, but Patrick was not charged during that incident.

If charged, Patrick could face a four-game suspension based due to a second violation of Georgia athletic association’s student-athlete marijuana-use policy.

Patrick leads the Bulldogs with 42 tackles this season; Smith is second with 39.
