Twins right-handed pitcher P.J. Walters was placed on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation Thursday.
To replace Walters on the active roster, the Twins recalled right-handed pitcher Lester Oliveros from Triple-A Rochester.
Oliveros appeared in 12 games and was 1-1 with a 4.08 ERA (17 2/3 innings, eight earned runs) with four saves, 22 strikeouts and five walks for the Red Wings.
Oliveros appeared in 13 games for Double-A New Britain earlier this season, going 1-1 with a 1.42 ERA and two saves.
Walters was removed from his Wednesday night start after 15 pitches -- yielding four straight singles and two runs -- because of pain and stiffness in his right shoulder. Walters was making his seventh start of the season. He was scheduled for an MRI exam Thursday.
