Tommy Tuberville has reportedly shown some interest in running for governor of Alabama, which shouldn’t be a problem for Auburn fans who remember him as the man who guided the Tigers to a 13-0 record in 2004.

As for winning over Crimson Tide fans, well, Tuberville displayed some political savvy Wednesday on Birmingham’s WJOX radio:

Not bad, coach.

Tuberville did go 7-3 against Alabama during his time on the Plains, resigning in 2008. He went 1-1 in his two contests against Saban when the latter was with the Tide. And, including Saban’s time at LSU, Tuberville actually finished 4-3 against the five-time national champion coach.

The 62-year-old Tuberville resigned from Cincinnati this past season after a 4-8 campaign, and, according to CBS, his next step could be a run for Alabama governor as a Republican.

His quip uniting both fan bases in the state is surely a great first step.
