Detroit Tigers catcher Alex Avila is in the lineup batting sixth for Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night despite having a knee injury.
Avila strained the patellar tendon in his left knee during Game 5 of the series. He was injured in the second inning Thursday in a home-plate collision with Boston's David Ross.
Avila left the game in the bottom of the fourth inning as he also took some hits from foul tips and bounced pitches.
The Tigers catcher is 5-for-11 with a home run and four RBIs against Boston starter Clay Buchholz.
The Red Sox lead the series 3-2.
